The heritage monuments of other faiths also well protected. Modern Malaysian cities vie for attention with their architectural superstructures like Petros towers. Modern malls and parks and recreation centers all keep the tourist busy exploring.
Situated 13 kms north of Kuala Lumpur, Batu caves takes its name from the Sungai Batu or Batu River, which flows past the hill. A pilgrim centre for Hindus, the Batu cave has temples dedicated to the Hindu Gods, Murugan (Subramaniaswamy) and Rama. The 42.7 meter tal statue of Lord Murugan stands at the entrance of the caves. 272 concrete steps(once wooden) lead to the main temple cave. The festival of Thaipusam brings around 2 million devotees to the caves. Batu Caves is also the centre of rock climbing development in Malaysia with more than 160 climbing route
Genting Highlands Located about 1850m above sea level, Genting Highlands lies within the Titiwangsa Mountains on the border between the states of Pahang and Selangor of Malaysia. The world's fastest and South East Asia's longest cable car called Genting Skyway (3.38km) takes you to these highlands. It is famous for its mountain resort which attracts over 18 million visitors annually. Genting Highlands resort was founded by the late Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong in the late 1960s.
Kuala Lumpur The capital of Malayasia and one of the fastest growing cities in south east Asia, Kuala Lumpur is better known as just KL Malaysia. Over 8 million people live within the greater KL area which is clearly noticeable by the huge and vast amounts of traffic that goes into the city every morning, and slowly leaves the city in the evening. Kuala Lumpur has many interesting attractions; like Merdeka Square, Chinatown, Petronas Twin Towers and much more. KL is also known as a shoppers paradise; there are are numerous huge shopping malls where you can literally shop til you drop.
